Home-price index posts big decline

Prices of single-family homes across the nation depreciated in January compared with January 2006, the worst results in more than 13 years, according to a housing index released yesterday by Standard & Poor's. The National Association of Realtors reported Friday that existing-home sales rose a surprising 3.9 percent in February but that the median price of a house continued to fall. (Baltimore Sun)
